Proper cleaning is more important than ever, especially in large organizations like schools, offices and other businesses. Most business owners are worrying about how to stay open while keeping their staff and/or customers safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the internet and news flooded with DIY cleaning supplies and this vs. that comparisons, it can be overwhelming. That being said, we introduce you to EMIST Spraying and how it compares to regular cleaning habits during a time like this.
What is EMist spraying?
Electrostatic spraying has been used for many decades in painting and agriculture. EMist uses this same process to apply a charge to the liquid droplets as they are formed and just before the droplets leave the spray nozzle. Interestingly, because of the electrostatic charge, droplets “wrap” around surfaces providing a consistent surface coverage which allows for efficient coating of hard nonporous surfaces.
The EMist sprayers are the most powerful, efficient and cost-effective disinfection sprayers on the market. The sprayers place an electrostatic charge to disinfectants as the chemical leaves the spray nozzle, which causes the chemical droplets to cling to virtually any surface.
What are the benefits of regular cleaning?
While research into the COVID-19 virus and best practices continues, we do know that the virus is transmitted through direct contact with respiratory droplets of an infected person (ie. coughing and sneezing) and touching surfaces contaminated with the virus. It is believed that the virus can survive on surfaces for a few hours up to several days. Although scary, there is a silver lining. Simple disinfectants can kill it and fight to prevent it from spreading.
When cleaning and disinfecting, make sure you are paying attention to high-touch areas. Every home and office is different, but common high-touch surfaces include: Door handles, tables, chairs, handrails, kitchen and bathroom surfaces, light switches, keyboards and remote controls. Although tedious, it is important to make the extra effort in your home, school, or office.
So which is better? Overall, less is not more at a time like this. We strongly encourage businesses and organizations to go the extra mile, when possible. We should all be doing as much as possible to keep employees, visitors, friends and family safe. Please contact us with any questions you have or cleaning services you may be in need of.
